Ontario Senior Driver Licence Renewals
Updates for Senior Drivers
Ontario has made changes to help simplify the driver’s licence renewal process for seniors. Drivers aged 80 and older are still required to renew their licence every two years, which includes a vision test and cognitive screening.
The good news is that these requirements can now be completed more conveniently through ServiceOntario. Seniors are not automatically required to take a road test simply because of their age. A road test or additional medical information may only be required if concerns arise during the renewal process.
If you or a loved one would like some extra confidence behind the wheel before an upcoming renewal, refresher driving lessons can be a great way to review safe driving habits, current road rules, and prepare for any additional testing that may be required.
